This project lead by Prof. Madya Dr. Cila Umat, involves a PC-based automated and interactive hearing screening kit with noise level monitoring feature for testing children and adults
The automated hearing screening kit consists of a laptop, a 24bit resolutions sound card, a headphone with embedded mini microphine and passive noise controller and a user-friendly GUI which is calibrated accordin to the ANSI S3.6-2004 standard. The microphone monitors the ambiend noise levels in real time and halts the screening process when the noise levels exceed the maximum permissible ambient noise levels for hearing screening
This automated hearing screening kit with the modified headphone has sound attenuation capability, monitors ambient noise level in real time at various test frequencies and halt the test when noise levels exceed the maximum permissible ambient noise level for hearing screening as specified by ANSI (American National Standard Institute). This is to ensure the hearing screening test results conform to the standard.
